Memorial Day Weekend was the Grand Opening of The Corner Art Gallery on the Plaza in Las Vegas, NM located at 1813 and 1815 Plaza Road. They feature 12 local artist and I’m honored to be one of them.
Saturday afternoon I went to the gallery excited to meet the other artists and my expectations were exceeded! We had such a good time talking about our art and telling stories that none of us wanted to leave when the gallery closed at 4pm so we wandered around the Plaza looking at other art galleries. 😊
Here are the artists shown in the photo above (left to right):
Dawne Holmes—Acrylic lacquer artist painting planes, cars, and motorcycles.
One of the motorcycles she painted is in the Guggenheim Museum.
Duke Sundt—Bronze sculptor, consummate storyteller, and gifted charmer with
a long and illustrious career.
Elaine Querry—Fine art photographer known for her Native American dance
photographs, cyanotype, and her excellent framing skills.
Bernadette Maldonado—Ceramics artist and prolific acrylic painter who also
manages the gallery.
Joseph Smith Jr—Native American self-taught artist sharing his culture
through symbology in his colorful acrylic painting.
Scott Vail (kneeling)—Dedicated nature photographer, passionate art lover, and owner of the studio.
As we said our goodbyes I felt rejuvenated and elated--I was walking on air as I slowly meandered home with a slight breeze at my back and the sun on my face.
