"5 Senses: SOUTHEAST"

This is the fifth painting in my series celebrating the 5 Senses: Seeing, Hearing, Tasting, Smelling, and Touching. Anyone can participate in this collaborative project by simply filling out the short survey on my website: https://www.mosstudiocr.com/5sensesartproject

 

I sort the responses by state or region, looking for trends, and once identified, I create a painting around those answers.

In this case, the painting is based on the following survey results from Kentucky, Georgia, and Florida:

• NOSE: Rose, Petrichor (the pleasant, earthy smell of rain on dry soil), and bourbon
   

• EYES: An old-growth tree in a forest and a new set of felt-tip pens
   

• TONGUE: Popcorn with butter and salt and Peanut Butter and Jelly
   

• EARS: Waterfall
   

• SKIN: Beautiful fabric

When thinking about all of these responses! imagined an artist going for a walk after a rainfall in an ancient banyan tree forest to an overlook at a waterfall where they stop to have lunch. They hang their red cloth rain cloak over the railing, balance their drawing board and felt markers on the fencepost, and unwrap a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a side of popcorn, washing it all down with a swig of bourbon from their flask.
