Finding balance is never easy and balance between males and females is an even bigger challenge--both internally and in our society at large. As I look back on my life so far I can see times when I was more butch and times where I was more princess. But it hasn't been very often that I was a butch princess.

Over the past 2 years I've experienced some of the roughest times of my life. Massive changes combined with being called to step up and out of my comfort zone has often left me feeling unbalanced, disorientated, and confused. Part of finding my way forward has included finding balance between my nurturing side (my default) and my fighter side (quite underdeveloped).

As I have lurched forward I felt compelled to explore this balance in my art. Additionally I wanted to do my own take on a traditional still life with fruit/veg. I started with a google search to find out what emojis are most used to represent men and women. The answer? Eggplant for men and peaches for women. The rest, as they say, is history.
