Bea

This was my first portrait after the Covid panic subsided and I felt comfortable inviting a model into my studio. It was exhilarating to be working with a human being instead of a still life. It was also challenging as sometimes we would get engrossed in a conversation and I'd forget to paint!

I know this young woman from working with her at the local animal shelter. She is simultaneously strong and kind, exhibiting leadership and gentleness every day. I hoped to capture some of that spirit in this painting.
